Frustrated with Doctors? Be Careful Who Finally Listens (A Part II Warning)

In the previous blog The Truth About Adrenal Fatigue —  and What You Can Do about it, we established the critical medical truth: the common diagnosis of ‘adrenal fatigue’ is not a real, scientifically-recognized condition, and chasing that label can often delay finding the true, diagnosable cause of your exhaustion. But there is a reason this myth has such a powerful hold on people, and it has less to do with science and more to do with the heart.

Frustrated With Doctors? Be Careful What You’re Willing to Believe

Let’s talk about something that hits close to home for many of us: the frustration of not being heard. You’ve gone from doctor to doctor, explaining your exhaustion, your brain fog, your digestive issues—and you get brushed off. No real diagnosis. No real help.

Then someone finally listens. A naturopath, a wellness coach, someone online. They say, “You have adrenal fatigue.”

And suddenly, you feel validated.

But here’s the warning: validation isn’t always truth. And if we’re not surrendered to the truth, we can be led astray—no matter how sincere we are.

We’re Vulnerable When We’re Hurting

I’ve seen it happen over and over. People desperate for answers fall into misinformation wrapped in empathy. And yes, I’ve even had a dear friend die—die—because of poor medical advice from someone who claimed “natural” was always better. It makes me grieve. And it makes me speak up.

We want to believe we’ve found “the real answer.” But truth doesn’t always feel good. Sometimes it asks us to change. Sometimes it tells us we’ve been misled. And that’s hard.

Not All “Natural” is Biblical

Many Adventists or Christians say, “Let’s avoid worldly medicine and follow God’s ways.” I agree—but we need to be careful what we call ‘natural’ or ‘biblical.’

Much of what is promoted today as natural medicine is rooted in Eastern philosophy, New Age beliefs, or unproven theories. That doesn’t make all natural health bad. But it means we must test everything.

Even Ellen White strongly warned against “sympathetic remedies.” She upheld principles of natural healing found in The Ministry of Healing—but that included scientific reason and practical lifestyle change, not homeopathy or vague energy therapies.

Are You Willing to Hear the Truth?

King Saul prayed for guidance—but God didn’t answer. Why? Because Saul didn’t really want the truth.

We must be different. We must pray:

“Lord, I surrender to ALL truth—even the hard kind.”

If we want God’s healing and guidance, we must be willing to see where we’ve gone off course, even in the name of health.

If you’re chasing supplements, detoxes, or labels like “adrenal fatigue,” while avoiding deep spiritual surrender or mental/emotional healing—you may be missing the real root of the issue.

Real Healing is Found in Surrender

Ellen White wrote that 9 out of 10 diseases begin in the mind. Are you anxious? Hurried? Carrying grief or shame?

  • Maybe you don’t need a detox—you need rest.
  • Maybe you don’t need a supplement—you need connection.
  • Maybe you don’t need another theory—you need truth.

That truth is found in God’s Word, in The Ministry of Healing, and often in the gentle correction of a physician who has the courage to say, “This isn’t what you think it is.”

You can’t fatigue your adrenal glands into failure. But you can wear down your body by neglecting God’s health laws. Look at the “8 Doctors”—trust in God, fresh air, sunlight, exercise, rest, proper nutrition, water, and temperance. These are what bring life.

Final Thought

Before you chase a label, ask yourself: Am I surrendered? Am I really open to God’s truth—even if it costs me pride, time, or money?

Truth may not come wrapped in the answer we want. But it’s the only thing that will truly set us free.
