Hopeless, worthless, nervous, anxious, tense, inadequate, ashamed, can be painful and debilitating when they are too intense or last too long! We all get stuck from time to time, none of us are immune from that. Past issues can get in the way of growth, or we might be stuck moving forward for many other reasons. Truth is sometimes we need help and we don’t want it to take years to feel better!

I use a client-centered, cognitive, evidence-based approach called TEAM-CBT which has been shown to work especially well for: feeling inadequate/inferior, anxiety, relationship challenges, procrastination, unmanaged stress, as well as for personal growth and wellness goals. Through confidential video meetings we’ll work together using a variety of tools looking for the ones that work for you!

While I have general skills and training as a professional counsellor and life coach, I specifically offer:

Since this is collaborative you must be willing to put effort into the process like reading/listening to materials, doing worksheets, and other skill building activities between sessions. We will work together on what exactly your homework will look like but expect to put in about 30min of work each day. My style does not work well with those who want to “just talk,” look at the past in great detail, or hoping to change their external environment rather than themselves. That’s totally ok if that’s what you are looking for, most therapists do that kind of therapy.

I provide both life coaching and counselling. However, I do NOT provide therapy through life coaching. I use a goal setting approach to combat unwanted or intensive emotions by helping you form realistic positive healthy thoughts through TEAM-CBT. Or we work on your healthy lifestyle habits with SMART goals and TEAM-CBT.

What are Intensives?

Intensives are fast paced, skill building for ongoing stress & anxiety or feelings of inadequacy & worthlessness. It’s ideal for those who are looking for a little something extra on their mental health journey or would like to compliment their current ongoing therapy with some practical skills.

Warning!! There will be a LOT of homework required and it’s ideal you have a follow up plan in case you need more therapeutic support, especially if you have suicidal ideation or thoughts/behaviours of self-harm. (Note: I cannot work with severe issues such as anorexia, severe addictions, etc. via telehealth, nor do I provide ‘treatment’ for any mental health disorders.)

How do Intensives Work?

Through confidential video chat we’ll work together to find solutions that work for you through the TEAM-CBT model which gets to underlying negative thoughts and self-defeating beliefs that cause most of your painful emotions, difficult relationships, or disrupting behaviours.

To get started, book a free 20min consultation. You’ll need good internet, a web cam, and private location. You’ll have the opportunity to tell me briefly what your needs are and to ask questions. After the consultation, if we both feel it’s a good fit, I’ll send you some paperwork. Then we will do an intake screening, where we will talk more about your needs, personal history, and set some goals. During the intake, we will book your intensive if we both feel it’s a good fit or I can make some referral recommendations.

Options & Prices

45min Intake or standard weekly sessions – training, consulting, counselling or coaching $150.

Full 2 week Intensive – four 105min sessions – 2 per week for 2 weeks, plus a FREE 45min follow up. Think of this as almost a live in treatment program. You’ll want to free up most of your 2 weeks for this program. It’s a good idea to do this on your holidays or vacation time. You can even book a hotel and do this in a sunny, pleasant location away from distractions. Cost $1100. – CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE

Low Key Intensive – 105min sessions as needed. Good for those who can’t take 2 weeks off, for tune-ups, to compliment or jump start weekly therapy, or if you want to spread the homework over a longer period of time to build skills or have accountability, like for habit or relationship work. Cost – $275 per session. I may have some 45min weekly follow up slots available, we can discuss during the consultation. Prices for follow ups.

I’ve worked with Dr. David Burns as a small group leader in his workshops and I am currently a small group leader in his Stanford Tuesday group for health professionals. I am a Level 4 TEAM-CBT Advance therapist and trainer. In addition to one-on-one personal work, I also offer consulting and training for therapists/life coaches/pastors. Disadvantages of Working with Me

First, you should know I have fibromyalgia (which is flaring up more than usual lately) and may have to reschedule without much warning. This is why I focus on a coaching approach which guides you through some step-by-step self-help tools, and helping you get stuck along the way. I can work along side of those seeing a therapist or Psychiatrist but need that extra help dealing with negative thoughts.

Other disadvantages include:

  • I require you to do a lot of work on your own between sessions.
  • You will be held accountable for your own role in relationships and choices in habit work.
  • I can not diagnose mental illness.
  • My clients who are open to spirituality recover faster, more fully.
  • I expect you to stick with it even when it gets hard.
  • I don’t have many slots available and it can be hard to get the day/time you would like.

Sometimes, in rare occasions, people just need to be heard or empathy, While this is the mainstay of most traditional therapy, this is not what I provide. I want you to have freedom from limiting beliefs such as “Life is too hard” or “I’m a failure” which cause all kinds of negative thoughts and in turn, painful emotions. I want you to see you can embrace all emotion as healthy, and if you want, dial back the intensity of those emotions though healthy thinking.
