Intensive or Regular Sessions or Both? What’s right for you?
Currently, my schedule is very limited, and I want you to have success as quickly as possible, so I offer intensive sessions for both coaching and counselling. These 165min power sessions help get you started on your mental health journey quickly. Usually, we do ONE with follow-ups as needed (and I have space available), but you may need 2 or even 4, depending on the number of goals you want to work on, how long you’ve been struggling, and the current tools you already have. In the case of counselling, you would need to commit to regular weekly (3 per month) 45min or 105min follow-up sessions. See “How Does it Work” below!
These intensive sessions are not intended to treat a serious mental illness or addiction. If you are struggling with thoughts about ending your life, self-harm, or harming others, this isn’t right for you. These all should be worked over a more extended period of time with a licensed counsellor.

What are intensives right for?
- learning healthy thinking tools to deal with current painful emotions and negative thoughts.
- specific mental health goals such as wanting more happiness, peace of mind, or self-worth..
- dealing with challenges to these goals such as feeling inadequate, worthless, depressed, or anxious.
- working through challenges as you go through any of Dr. David Burns materials, books, or podcasts.
- getting a head start on feeling better with a plan to continue with a self-help program or working with a professional.
How does it work?

Next, book a 20min consultation with me to see if we are a good fit.
Coaching: If we decide to work together during the consultation, you’ll fill in a screening form, and you can book your power session. You will need to read the recommended book and get a DML started before we meet. I may have room for follow-up sessions, but I can’t guarantee a slot. This will depend on several factors, including how well the initial session went, if you did all the homework assigned during the consultation and my schedule.
Counselling: If we decide we are a good fit, you’ll fill in an intake form, and book both a 45min intake session as well as a 165min power session. You will have to agree to regular weekly sessions (3 per month) until you feel ready to terminate working together. You must agree to a termination session should you wish to discontinue therapy for any reason.
Expectations for Coaching Intensives (counselling see below):
- book a free consultation
- focus on ONE mental wellness goal such as, “be more calm”, or “have greater joy”.
- have a follow up plan in case you experience a trigger to past trauma, suicidal urges/thoughts, or other issue beyond the scope of our working together.
- completely read one of David’s books (see list below) or my book, “The Truth Will Set You Free”
- complete at least one Daily Mood Log (this will be explained in the consultation & in David’s books)
- fill in the screening form screening form.
- book your 165min intensive, power session for $425, (If you need a reduced rate – 50% off – click here) OR if you can’t afford that email me!
- work on your own after the session to continue building on what you learned. The hard work starts AFTER our session as you implement the tools.
- I may offer you a follow-up session(s) if available.
Books by Dr. David Burns I recommend, you’ll need to chose one of these.
- “When Panic Attacks” for feelings of depression and anxiety or just anxiety.
- “The Feeling Good Handbook” for feelings of depression around yourself and the social world around you.
- “10 Days to Self-Esteem” for feelings of depression, worthlessness, and inadequacy.
- “Feeling Good” for depression. David’s oldest book and tested to be as effective as drugs or traditional therapy for depression.
- .”Feeling Great” for any of the above. David’s newest book, good for those that want to see how this works in real life. Lots of stories!
Expectations for Counselling:
- book a consultation
- have a follow-up plan for any emergencies or crises as I am not available 24/7 nor provide crisis support.
- start reading one of David’s books or my book, “The Truth Will Set You Free”
- complete at least one Daily Mood Log (this will be explained in the consultation & in David’s books)
- fill in the intake forms (they will be sent by email)
- book your 45min intake session $195
- commit to 20 to 30min of daily homework such as worksheets, readings, etc.
- commit to regular follow-up session(s) until the reason you started therapy is resolved. We can discuss the session length during intake I offer 45min and 105min sessions. Keep in mind the longer the session, the faster the recovery exponentially. See booking page for fees and general availabilty.
- agree to a final termination session should you decide to leave therapy prematurely.
